Completing this year's Pinner Music Festival, the Festival Choir and Orchestra are joined by visiting soloists Alexandra Stevenson (soprano), Helena Cooke (mezzo-soprano), Louis Watkins (tenor) & Tim Dickinson (bass), under the baton of conductor Paul Jeanes.
The Te Deum, written towards the end of Haydn’s life, is suitably jubilant, with a more contemplative central section. Handel’s anthem was written for the Duke of Chandos, at Canons in Stanmore: the choral sections have a cheerful aspect, while solo passages show contrasting moods. And the Coronation Mass (1779) is one of Mozart’s finest choral conceptions from his Salzburg years, compact and bright in tone.
