Fly fishing (casting) lessons provided by Mid Northants Trout Fishers' Association. Learn about the tackle used and how to cast a trout fly rod. The focus is on trout, although fly fishing for other species is growing (e.g. predator, coarse and sea).
Suitable for complete beginners to experienced anglers.
Minimum age is 10 years old. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Equipment for the session is provided, but you are welcome to bring your own if you have some.
Each individual session lasts about 1 hour.
This does not include a fishing session. Our coaches first teach you how to cast a fly line on grass. Day tickets are available for the fishery (Pitsford Water).
We can also teach you about different fly fishing methods, basic entomology and fly patterns. We provide information on where you can fish for trout and other species. If you decide to join our club we can offer additional tuition and fishing opportunities.
If you are interested in starting fly fishing, come for a lesson first before buying any kit.
There is a tackle shop on site.
Sessions are once a month until October.
