Meliora Collective live in Parbold, Lancashire
Meliora Collective is an ensemble of ten musicians - five wind players and five string players - who perform in a very dynamic and creative way.
Emily Earl, violin
Ruth Heney, violin
Rebecca Stubbs, violin
Gunda Baranauskaité, cello
Ben du Toitm, double bass
Meera Maharaj, flute
Laura Roberts-Campbell, oboe
Joel Roberts, horn
Hugh Woolley, bassoon
Stephanie Yim, clarinet
Their versatile way of working means they can perform together as a dectet, or in smaller groups, which gives them the opportunity to play a large range of chamber music in many varied settings. The audience in Parbold will be treated to the full ensemble of ten players.
Born of a love of chamber music, Meliora Collective enjoys presenting highly inventive arrangements. Perfectly timed for this Christmas concert, they will perform an arrangement for their ‘pocket orchestra’ of Tchaikovsky’s festive Nutcracker Suite, alongside Mendelssohn’s popular Scottish Symphony.
Recent graduates of conservatoires including the Royal Academy of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Northern College of Music, each of the musicians brings a strong musical identity to the ensemble. This year, they received an award from the Oleg Prokofiev Trust.
