Craster's Hidden Gardens - Open Garden for NGS
In sight of Dunstanburgh Castle, in the picturesque village of Craster, sit 3 very different cottage gardens showing what can be achieved in a windy seaside setting. Formerly allotments attached to fishermens cottages - No.1 is newly developed, has two ponds, colour-themed borders and prairie style planting. No. 2 has sea views, many perennial bee friendly plants, roses galore and a lovely herbaceous border. No. 5 is a ¼ acre, divided into several separate areas: woodland garden, pond, fruit and vegetables plus borders featuring many unusual perennials, shrubs, grasses and ferns. The garden is managed to encourage wildlife. There is a pub and 2 cafes in the village and picnic benches and ice cream vendor in the harbour area.
