FREE Ukrainian Folk Art Exhibition
Join us for this colourful Ukrainian Folk Art Exhibition showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Ukraine! Immerse yourself in the vibrant, intricate designs and traditional Ukrainian crafts.

Displays include embroidered decorative items, traditional costumes, beadwork jewellery, woodwork, Petrykivka art, Pysanky eggs and wooden crafts that originate from pagan times. A range of folk art is displayed from specialist sewing, weaving and embroidery to leather work.

Learn about the swirling floral motifs and vibrant colours of Petrykivka painting whose intricate decoration reflects the beauty of the Ukrainian landscape and the art gained addition to the Representative List of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Different wood pieces are displayed from the Carpathian mountains, where Hutsul highlanders make items from local sycamore, maple, pear, apple, alder, yew, cedar, walnut, and oak. Woven towels, rugs, tablecloths and shirts are decorated with embroidered symbolic patterns. Ukraine’s distinctive embroidered Vyshyvanka shirts and ritual cloths Rushnyky are used in ceremonial events, weddings etc and will be shown alongside various Pysanky eggs.

This large collection of 200+ embroidered, carved and painted exhibits are encoded with geometric symbols and images that convey powerful emotions and colours from the Carpathian Mountains to eastern Ukraine.

Symbols like the tree of life, solar signs, animals, and flowers are used from baptism to courtship, marriage and end of life. This unique public exhibition tells many stories about Ukraines varied regions. It is a rare opportunity to experience the beauty and craftsmanship of Ukrainian art up close.

This FREE exhibition will show you the individuality, craftsmanship and creativity from Cossack times to present day. Register tickets via Eventbrite or just attend on your preferred day.
