A better future: mapping the journey to Democracy 2043

What if you could reshape democracy for the better — and you had 20 years to do so?

UK charity mySociety has been creating digital tools that help people play an active part in democracy since 2003.

In this, their 20th anniversary year, they are inviting some of this country's most insightful thinkers to describe their positive vision for Democracy 2043, and what we need to put in place to make it happen. Come along and add your own ideas too!

We'll be hearing from:

- Emma Geen, Project Coordinator, Bristol Disability Equality Forum

- Immy Kaur, Co-founder and Director, CIVIC SQUARE

- Joy Green, Systemic Futurist, Forum for the Future

- Dr Kim Foale, Founder & studio lead, Geeks For Social Change

- Louise Crow, Chief Executive of mySociety

mySociety was formed to explore the ways in which the internet could help everyone discover, discuss and participate directly in politics, and whether it could empower us to make changes in society and to the political process itself.

Over the last 20 years, their digital services have served millions of people each year in the UK and around the world; they've campaigned for transparent, responsive institutions fit for the 21st century. This year, in a landscape that has changed dramatically since their conception, and with the coming decades sure to bring fast-moving changes to both technology and democracy, mySociety will be inviting us all to examine the vital question: what do we need to put in place now, to ensure a positive future for all?

T?his is a hybrid event: it will be held in person in Sheffield as part of the Festival of Debate; and online for participants who wish to join from home.
19:00 - 20:30 pm
