The workshop will cover country dances, a cotillion and a quadrille from the Regency era. Studying these dances will help us learn the fundamental moves, footwork, timing and patterns of these popular dances. The aim of the course is to improve danceability and confidence in dance to be able to enjoy attending a ball. We may also learn a triolet: this is a larger formation dance popular in European ballrooms of the era. These dances, with their intricate patterns, are great fun to learn in a workshop. They give a great sense of teamwork and achievement!
The Dance mistress Libby Curzon is teacher and leader of Mrs Bennet’s Ballroom, set up in 2013.
This would be a perfect workshop for those who have been attending Georgettes of Oxford’s biweekly dance classes or for more experienced dancers.
