A tense and finely acted thriller based on John le Carre’s book of the same name. It’s not James Bond but it’s totally believable and compelling. Richard Burton heads a fine cast which includes Claire Bloom, Michael Hordern, Sam Wannamaker, Robert Hardy and Rupert Davies. (UK 1965)
