Wed 12 July
In this workshop we learn about macro photography, getting close to your subject and how to photograph the summer flowers and insects at this vibrant and colourful time of year.
This is the perfect season to capture the proliferation of wildflowers throughout the wetland centre, including the delicate snake’s-head fritillaries and the vibrant orchids in full and glorious bloom. The warmer summer months are also an ideal time to capture all manner of insects, as well as beetles, lizards, grasshoppers and crickets which come to life during the warmth of the day.
We’ll look at the essential camera settings required to capture still and moving subjects. This includes how to achieve your desired focal effect, as well as a range of light and exposure settings. We’ll also explore the importance of perspective, composition and colour harmony within the frame and how to maximise their impact in macro and close up photography.
Each day is a mixture of classroom learning with an emphasis on outdoor hands-on practice and 1-2-1 tuition. This workshop is ideal for all levels of photography and we will work according to your knowledge and level of experience. Content details will be tailored to the course attendees on the day.
Please bring your camera with fully charged batteries and formatted memory cards. A midrange lens is ideal, and if you also have a longer lens bring it along.
