Discover the excitingly surreal work of contemporary artist and sculptor Jocelyn McGregor. Inspired by the Lake District and the Windermere Jetty Museum collection, the installation delves into the space between nature and the human world, between land and water, dark and light, the known and the unknown.
Creating hybrid creatures from salvaged materials, outdoor clothing and discarded camping equipment, McGregor’s anthropomorphic sculptures explore the delicate relationship between humans and the environment amidst the global climate crisis.
Working with the Dove Cottage Poets, McGregor explores the stories of Cumbrian folklore and the history of the museum’s collection. Live art performances and audio recordings will bring these stories to life.
McGregor invites you to encounter her creations inside the museum galleries and boathouse. In late October more will be added to the installation as it expands into the temporary exhibition space.
