Camira Wind Trio

The second concert of the Middlewich and District Concert Society's 34th season is marked by the return of the Camira Wind Trio. The Trio comprises Emma Haughton (Clarinet), Charlotte Curwen (Bassoon) and Emily Doan (Flute) and was formed in 2018 while they were all undertaking post-graduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music. They enjoy performing in a chamber music setting and exploring the wind repertoire, much of which is rarely performed. Alongside their recital performances they are passionate about bringing live music to new audiences through outreach work and concerts within the community. Their previous visit was most engaging, almost riotous, since we were all experiencing a bit of freedom after assorted lockdowns.

As before they are bringing a wide selection of music. The main items are trios by Kaspar Kummer and Beethoven. They were contemporaries, so the contrast in styles will be interesting. The rest of the programme ranges from Vivaldi (Autumn from the Four Seasons), through the Dance Macabre by Saint-Saens to Astor Piazzolla (Libertango) and Bart Howard (Fly Me to the Moon). There are also pieces by Cecile Chaminade, Amy Beach, Zequinha de Abreu and Tchaikovsky. Sounds like something for everyone! The full programme is available on the web-site.

The concert will take place on Saturday, 21st October, 2023 in the Middlewich Community Centre. This can be accessed from St. Anne's Walk (CW10 9BE) or from the Civic Way car park (CW10 9BX). Admission is £12, payable at the door (cash or cheque only). For further details please visit the web-site www.madcs.org.uk or contact Roger Evans on 01606 834471.
