Heritage Open Day: Find out about Berwick's history in its Visitor Centre sited in a former Methodist Church. As well as its usual displays on Berwick, see an exhibition of photographs from the Photo Centre collection kept at Berwick Record Office. Originally there were two Methodist Chapels in Berwick - Primitive and Wesleyan. This building was the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel which was opened in 1797 with alterations made in 1878. In the early 1920s both congregations amalgamated and worshipped together here until 2017 when it was sold. The building was reopened as a Visitor Centre in 2019. The Photo Centre exhibition gives a glimpse into the images discovered in this amazing collection in the past ten years. It highlights local people and activities that happened in North Northumberland between 1951 when Dave Smith started the business until it closed its doors for the last time in 2012 .
