Marvel Comics published Amazing Fantasy #15 in August 1962. Written by Stan Lee and drawn by Steve Ditko, it contained a story that was destined to change the world of comics forever. That story is called Spider-Man.
Ditko’s original ink art for the comic is now stored safely in the Library of Congress, Washington DC. It consists of 24 boards, as well as the actual ink it was drawn with. You can even see pencil comments from Stan Lee!
This year, LICAF is exhibiting replicas of these original pages in Windermere Jetty Museum’s Old Fire Station.
Never seen before in the UK, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gaze upon one of the holy grails of comic art!
This exhibition is free, so there is no need to book, just turn up on the day.
