Willow Trug Making

Learn about the traditional craft of basket weaving and create a square-based willow trug to take home. You'll begin by learning to make a base, connect the base with the sides, weave in a variety of different patterns, turn down a border in a decorative way and add a handle. You'll be able to take your handmade trug home - versatile and strong, these baskets can be used in multiple ways around the home and garden.

No experience is required. This is a great course for beginners and experienced weavers alike.

Your tutor for this course is Suzy Williams of The Coppice Co. In 2018 Suzy won a place on the National Coppicing Apprenticeship Scheme, during which she learned vital skills and knowledge from seasoned coppice workers. Now she manages coppice woodlands alongside teaching and selling traditional woodland crafts.

Our class sizes are small, so you'll have a chance to engage with the tutor while you work.
