The Shakespearean Garden, Platt Fields Park - Open Garden for NGS

The concept of a Shakespearean Garden was first developed in Victorian England with the idea of creating a garden with some or all, of the trees and flowers mentioned in the bards works. With strong links to the suffrage movement and Edwardian Manchester society our garden opened in 1922 and was rescued from near obscurity over 3yrs by volunteers. Few public Shakespearean Gardens remain in the UK.
