Take a walk on the wild side with Jane (Cowan) Furey when she visits SFC for their April meeting and she demonstrates her floral art to the theme of “Animal Magic”.
From when Jane worked at a florist shop in her teenage years she knew it was all she wanted to do which eventually led her to do an intensive 18 month study programme for her latest qualification. Jane is a NAFAS area demonstrator who is one of a handful of people in the UK to be awarded a Masters Diploma in Professional Floristry in May 2013. For Jane the qualification climaxed a love affair with flowers stretching back almost 30 years. Floristry fitted everything together for her liking of art, a flair for design and working with people.
As an influential figure in British floristry, Jane is eager to see the industry evolve to meet the economic challenges ahead. However, one thing has never changed for Jane. Although she has worked with exotic blooms by the lorry-load, her favourite flower remains the simple yellow and white daisy.
All the flowers that Jane arranges will be offered as prizes for the raffle so, if you have bought some tickets and are lucky enough to have your number drawn out you may be going home with a beautiful arrangement to enjoy at home.
