Much Ado About Nothing
Swansea University - Shoreline Theatre
William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing is a comedic play about love, deception, and misunderstandings. Hero’s cousin, Beatrice, and the eternal bachelor Benedick are entrapped in a witty war of words with one another. They are duped into believing the other one is in love with them. Meanwhile, Count Claudio falls desperately in love with his hosts’ daughter, Hero. Right before their wedding, he is tricked into believing she is unchaste, leading him to cast her away in front of the congregation. He, in turn, is led to believe she is dead. To add to the chaos, a mischievous sibling spreads mayhem, a Ruler becomes obsessed with matchmaking, and two constables with scarcely one brain cell attempt to bring order.
