Tours of the Historic Library
Heritage Open Day: Hawkshead Grammar School Museum is opening up the historic Library, especially for Heritage Open Days! The library is usually closed to the public, so this is a great opportunity to see inside and hear more about the people who built the collection. On 8th, 13th and 15th September 2024, visitors will be able to step inside Hawkshead Grammar School's historic library, which is usually closed to the public. It is one of few remaining historic school libraries which remains in-situ, inside the school building (and room) it was set up in. The library houses approximately 1600 books, some dating back to the 16th Century. Our guide will give visitors a 20 minute talk about the library, with a tour, and will be able to answer questions.
