Chapel of St Lawrence

Heritage Open Day: The tour will include the Chapel, Tower: Clock and Bell room. (Due to health and safety concerns it will not include the tower roof). Grade II listed 13th century chantry chapel, rebuilt in 18th century. Uniquely owned and managed by the town, purchased by the people in 1575 and controlled by 12 'Feoffees'. Known as one of the rare ‘Chapel Peculiars'. Fascinating clock and Curfew Bell in the tower. Awarded Civic Trust/Town Council Blue Plaque in 2004.
