Brereton Bear Festival

We are holding our twelfth Bear Festival between Saturday 12 July and Sunday 31 August 2025.
Residents make displays with Bears in honour of the Legend of the Muzzled Brereton Bear. These bears are displayed in gardens, on rooftops, in trees in fact anywhere where they can be seen from the road!! They cover the whole Parish of Brereton! There are even bears in St Oswald's Church.

Hunters buy a programme which holds a map of the Bear Hunting areas and a grid to report the bears as they are found. At the end of the Bear Hunt, the entries are submitted for counting and winners of the Bear Hunt and the winners of the Bear Makers are announced at the Presentation Service in Church on Sunday 6 September. Programmes are available at Church, School, The Bear's Head, Pear Tree Shop and anywhere there is a sign.

There will be a Treasure Hunt on Saturday 16 August starting at the school lawn at 4pm with BBQ, bar and activities for children. There will be a Raffle at the Treasure Hunt.
