Crewe is bringing the coast to the town centre this August Bank Holiday weekend with Discover Crewe-on-Sea - a free, family-friendly seaside experience taking place from Saturday, 23rd to Monday, 25th August in Lyceum Square.
Brought to you by Crewe Town Council and sponsored by Crewe Business Improvement District (BID), Discover Crewe-on-Sea forms part of Crewe Town Council’s wider Summer Festival of Fun and will transform the square into a colourful coastal pop-up, complete with real sand, a beach hut and boat, buckets and spades, and plenty of hands-on entertainment. Running from 11am to 4pm each day, visitors can relax in deckchairs, get involved in craft workshops and enjoy live performances throughout the weekend.
As well as animating the town centre and supporting local businesses, Discover Crewe-on-Sea will include a themed trail linking the town’s three Business Improvement District zones. Each area offers something different, from the global flavours and essential services of Nantwich Road to the well-known retailers at Grand Junction Retail Park and the cultural heart of Crewe town centre, home to independents, theatre and family attractions.
The trail will feature painted buckets with hidden challenges and photo opportunities, alongside opportunities for children to design ‘Postcards from Crewe’ celebrating lesser-known parts of the town’s heritage, from the iconic blue Owl Telescope to the world-famous Whitby Morrison ice cream vans.
Discover Crewe-on-Sea runs from Saturday, 23rd to Monday, 25th August, 11am to 4pm each day, and is free to attend. For more information and full listings, visit www.discovercrewe.co.uk/creweonsea
