The Unfriend

The Unfriend
by Steven Moffat

A Potentially Perilous Pal
This modern farcical comedy explores the complexities of modern social interactions.
Meet Peter and Debbie, a typical British suburban couple off on a cruise to celebrate their wedding anniversary. And, as a break from their annoying teenagers…
During their holiday, they befriend Elsa, a rather brash American widow. They say the usual things about staying in touch and possibly meeting up, thinking that they will never see Elsa again.
Elsa, however, arranges to come and stay with them. Realising that they don’t really know much about her, Peter and Debbie consult the internet and discover the worst thing imaginable about their house guest. But overcome by polite middle-class manners, the couple find it impossible to put her off.
Sit back and enjoy how Elsa ends up having a massive impact on the family — but not in the way that any of us might have expected.

This amateur production of ‘The Unfriend’ is presented by arrangement with Nick Hern Books.
