St Clement's Church

Heritage Open Day: St Clement's is a thriving church family in the evangelical tradition and located in our beautiful nearly 200 years old Romanesque revival style church, at the bottom of Headington Hill. St Clement's was the first church to be built on a new site in Oxford since the Middle Ages. Built in 1825 to 1827, replacing our medieval church on The Plain, in a Romanesque revival style. In recent years, there has been a minor reordering inside the Church and major renovation of external stonework in Bath stone. Inside, you can see our thirteenth century bell – the oldest in Oxford - and our stained glass windows, which came from the demolished St Martin's on Carfax. Today, we are a diverse and thriving church family in the open evangelical tradition of the Church of England.
