Heritage Open Day: The Old Grammar School was attended by Newton, Lord Burleigh, poet Colley Cibber & Albert Ball VC. Explore the building which dates from c1530 and see school memorabilia and the names of former boys carved into the window sills and jambs. The school was re-founded by Bishop Richard Fox under his will of 1528. This Tudor building has stone walls supporting a timber-framed roof of Collyweston slates. The Old School contains items relating to Isaac Newton and there will be a display of other photographs, minute books and memorabilia. A small bookstall of local books will also be run by Grantham Civic Society.
