The spirited architecture of Pearson Bellamy

Heritage Open Day: A display of Bellamy’s distinctive portfolio in Louth, Lincolnshire. The prolific Louth born architect Pearson Bellamy (1821 - 1901) designed town houses, town halls, chapels, churches, cemeteries, schools, shops and institutes. His elegant brick and tile architecture, his spirited Italianate style, prompted Pevsner to remark upon Bellamy’s delight in building, ‘palazzos in streets decidedly unsun baked.’

At Louth Museum we will host a small display of Bellamy’s distinctive portfolio, much of which we can still observe in the town today. It is easy to detect his distinctive style in Louth’s handsome terraces and singular dwellings, civic and commercial buildings.
