Museum of Island History - free entry and new history walk

Heritage Open Day: Free entry to the Museum of Island History, plus a chance to join an inspiring walk to connect with Island heritage in a whole new way! The Museum of Island History, housed in Newport’s iconic Guildhall, welcomes visitors on Thursday 18th September (10am–2pm). Journey through the Island’s past—from prehistoric fossils to modern-day festivals and don’t miss the new display of fascinating finds unearthed by the Vectis Searchers Metal Detecting Club.

Also on Thursday, members of the public are invited to join a unique immersive walk celebrating the life and poetry of Charlotte Mew. A poet who is rarely celebrated, Mew will lead visitors around Newport, talk about her past on the Island and how it inspired her work.
