St Mary's Church Walkley

Heritage Open Day: St Mary’s Church is joining 4 other buildings in Walkley by opening its doors and bell tower to celebrate the design, construction and history of the church and the adjoining school. St Mary’s church is joining Sheffield Buddhist Centre, Walkley Community Centre, Walkley Ebenezer and Walkley Library in this one day event to celebrate the history of Walkley, its buildings and its people. This Mid Victorian church is renowned for its mixture of 19th & 21st Century stained glass.

There will be a number of exhibitions, photographs and maps including archive material about the former St Mary’s School – later the Walkley Institute & part of Sheffield College- and the current use of the school building as the Sheffield Spiritualist Church & Sheffield Yoga School.
