Heritage Open Day: Explore this secret garden on the outskirts of York overlooking the racecourse, once home to the Terry family, of Chocolate Orange fame. Take time exploring the garden ‘rooms’ of this five acre garden. Designed by George Dillistone for the growing Terry family, during the chocolate factory hey day for the business. In keeping with the Arts and Crafts style, discover fragrant borders, wildlife areas, a small vegetable garden, orchard and glasshouse.
Refreshments are served on the sunny terrace overlooking the garden. Freshly baked scones and cakes, some with that infamous chocolate orange flavour can be enjoyed on a few outdoor tables and chairs.
