Church of St James the Great, Morpeth

Heritage Open Day: Impressive Victorian Romanesque Church, after the style of the cathedral at Monreale in Sicily, with fine wall paintings. A Victorian Neo-Norman-type church by Benjamin Ferrey, former apprentice to Augustus Pugin. Built-in 1844-46 with impressive decorative carvings, apse murals from 1875 and a fine Minton tiled floor in the Chancel. Information leaflets will be available. Guidebooks and handmade cards will be available to purchase.
