Great Meeting Chapel: Open Days, Tea in the Garden and special exhibition

Heritage Open Day: An inner-city gem: a 1708 Chapel, Leicester's oldest complete brick building, with unique octagonal ceiling, innovative roof structure and woodland garden. Take an informative tour of the Grade II listed non-conformist Chapel, garden and medieval boundary wall. Admire the peaceful 'time capsule' interior with its recently restored 1786 octagonal, half-dome plaster ceiling and experience its excellent acoustics. Learn about the unique oak-with-iron-strapping roof structure. Learn fascinating anecdotes about people associated with the Chapel and its place in Leicester's history, including political reform, the Chapel's school, its 19th century Domestic Mission and its connections to the anti-slavery movement. Children can participate in a special trail.
