Heritage Open Day: Visit the Lion Salt Works on Sunday 21st September from 11am-4.30pm for a fun free family day out! The biggest architectural challenge during the restoration of Lion Salt Works was to restore the structures so they could be enjoyed by the public without affecting their ephemeral character.
Today the scheduled monument is open as an award-winning Museum, café and shop for people of all ages to enjoy.
Come and see how salt was made at an open-pan salt making site. See the ridges, bows and unevenly coursed brickwork of the Stove Houses and the corroded iron pans.
The Lion Salt Works Trust will be doing salt making demonstrations, there will also be free guided tours throughout the day and family crafts.
Free admission to the Museum and all activities free of charge.
