Heritage Open Day: Visit Ashcombe Gardens & White Rock Cottage in Simonsbath for guided walks, exhibitions and family-friendly activities to learn about the Royal Forest of Exmoor, the Knight family reclamation and the work of Exmoor National Park Authority. Tucked within Exmoor's quiet village of Simonsbath lies White Rock Cottage, built in 1819 and reminiscent of a Scottish croft, it forms the centrepiece of Ashcombe Gardens. This late Georgian designed picturesque garden was created in 1820 by the Knight family, a pioneering family who changed the shape of Exmoor. The gardens lie at the heart of the former Royal Forest of Exmoor; during these open days we will share with you its history, present and future.
