Sandygate and Carsick - Social history and world sporting heritage

Heritage Open Day: Explore Sandygate and Carsick, looking at the streets and buildings, and tracing part of the 1830s water works conduit that ran from Redmires. The event will conclude with a visit to Hallam FC's Sandygate Ground - the world's oldest football stadium! The event will be a tour of the streets around the Sandygate and Carsick area of Sheffield. We will be spotting and understanding evidence of the past, both large and small, and telling stories of the area from times gone by. Following on from my popular 'Lodge Moor Explore' Heritage Open Days event, we will again be tracing part of the route of the 1830s Sheffield Water Works Company conduit, which was built to carry the town's drinking water all the way from Redmires to Crookesmoor.
