Heritage Open Day: Visit the iconic building on Abbeydale Road South, what is the history of Dore Masonic Hall?
Discover the links between the Sheffield & Rotherham LVA, Sir Francis Leggatt Chantry, J.B.V. Mitchell-Withers & Sons (Architects) and Burton upon Trent. Conducted tours of the Hall and its main building covering the history, use and associated links with many influential Sheffield events and people. Originally built in Grimesthorpe by the Sheffield & Rotherham Licenced Victuallers Association as Almshouses for the "poor and distressed members" of that society, it was moved due to the Industrialisation of that area and rebuilt in 1877 in the leafy suburb of Dore. Today it is one of two Freemasons Halls in Sheffield and will be open to the public for the first time in over four years
