Brindley's Mill, Mill Street

Heritage Open Day: Brindley's Mill is a working water-powered corn mill built in 1752. The mill was built by famous canal engineer James Brindley in 1752. It was restored to working order in the 1970s. The mill grinds corn into flour in the old fashioned way, taking its power from the adjoining river Churnet by an impressive water-wheel.

Guided tours are available, or visitors can look around on their own. The mill also contains a small museum about the life and times of James Brindley. Allow one hour for the visit.
