Heritage Open Day: Etton is an almost hidden linear village at the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds only 4 miles from Beverley. It has a history going back to the Bronze Age Features include the remains of the Medieval Village and a Knights Templar Grange, the village pond, the Victorian-Gothic Schoolhouse, the nine hundred year old Norman Church , a Tower Mill built in 1775 and the conservation area with many Georgian buildings still belonging to the Dalton Estate. There is also thoughtful and well built pre and post war Local Authority housing for Agricultural Workers and a newly refurbished pub.
Start your walk at the village hall, where there will be refreshments, photographs, objects from the past and villagers to chat with and where you can pick up a walking map and brief history of the village. (maps also available at Cherry Corner)
