Heritage Open Day: Swanland Heritage Centre is a local reference point for village history and a repository for photographs, documents, books, maps and transcripts relating to Swanland and its environs. Displays illustrate aspects of the village’s history. Swanland Heritage Centre is located in the historic Institute building by the pond in the centre of the village; the ideal place to start a Heritage trail, copies of which can be purchased from the Centre or downloaded from the website.
Swanland has several links to historical events of national and local importance; respective lords of the manor having been involved, for example, in the signing of the Magna Carta in 1215 and the Battle of Agincourt in 1415.
