Stone and Story: The Architecture of Bedern Hall

Heritage Open Day: Discover how the walls of this 14th-century hall tell the story of York’s history. During Heritage Open Days, enjoy additional interpretation highlighting the building’s medieval architecture and how it has changed over time. Step inside Bedern Hall and uncover the stories hidden in its fabric. Built in the 14th century as part of the College of the Vicars Choral, the hall retains remarkable medieval stonework and one of York’s finest scissor-braced timber roofs.

During Heritage Open Days, we’ll be adding extra interpretation to help you explore the building’s architecture — from the craftsmanship of its original masons to the adaptations of later centuries.
