Trinity United Reformed Church

Heritage Open Day: Trinity United Reform Church will be open at 1000 until 1600 for visitors to explore the building on Saturday 20th. There will be a talk at 1400 by Clyde Binfield Trinity U.R.C. was opened in February 1971. It presents an apparently uncompromising facade in the Neo-Brutalist style: because it is at the rockface, facing Endcliffe Park, it represents the cliff of faith. Inside, the concrete block house is surprisingly attractive - simple, sensible, and dignified. The architect, J.M.M. Jenkinson RIBA, was a member of the church. There is another surprise - the church of 1971 is attached to a hall that was built sixty years before. So here is a building of contrasts, inviting exploration.

The talk by Clyde Binfield is Free Trade in Architecture? A Chapel Perspective, 1828-1939.Chapels got everywhere; what fuelled their building? Discover more about this in a unique chapel setting.
