Heritage Open Day: Join Berwick Bridge 400 Artist in Residence, Annie Lord for a talk about her community-based art project. Hear about her archive research and learn about how she created watercolour paints from the same local sandstone used to repair the bridge. Annie found inspiration from the original, hand-scribed account books from the bridge’s construction in the 17th century. She got to know the names of the workers - from the women who sanded the stone surfaces, to the masons and surveyors. She created a set of 45 sandstone paints, each one named after a worker listed in the Berwick Bridge account books of the week beginning 25th September 1624. These were given out to members of the local community who each made an artwork in honour of these original workers.
