Open Day at Blythburgh Station, Nr Halesworth
Heritage Open Day: The Halesworth to Southwold Narrow Gauge Railway Charity have been restoring – from complete dereliction - the historic 1879 Blythburgh Station since 2020. Come and see the progress: see freight trains shunting, and meet volunteers for a guided tour. Open Day and Model Railway Show as part of “Railway 200†& National Heritage Open Days

The unique narrow-gauge Southwold Railway only operated for 50 years – from 1879 to 1929: track and rolling stock were scrapped in WWII. But at Blythburgh much of the station remained under the ground, and we have excavated it and are gradually restoring it.
