Open Day at Blythburgh Station, Nr Halesworth

Blythburgh Station, Station Road, Blythburgh IP19 9LQ Heritage Open Day: The Halesworth to Southwold Narrow Gauge Railway Charity have been restoring – from complete dereliction - the historic 1879 Blythburgh Station since 2020. Come and see the progress: see freight trains shunting, and meet volunteers for a guided tour. Open Day and Model Railway Show as part of “Railway 200” & National Heritage Open Days Free entry to site, free tea, coffee and home-made cake. The unique narrow-gauge Southwold Railway only operated for 50 years – from 1879 to 1929: track and rolling stock were scrapped in WWII. But at Blythburgh much of the station remained under the ground, and we have excavated it and are gradually restoring it... READ MORE>
