Heritage Open Day: Westbury has been home to lords, gentlemen, farmers and now artists in a story that has lasted for at least 1,000 years. This exhibition leads you through the centuries from before the Saxons to the present day. Who says Milton Keynes has no history? Westbury was already ancient when the Normans passed through in 1066 and gave the manor house here to a Norman knight – called Engaine, after which one of the main roads in Shenley Church End is named. Once a moated manor, it was last a home occupied by its owner in the 17th century, who also installed our famous Armada Door.
