Guided Tours of Epicacum 11am and 2pm, PLUS Alston to Epiacum Free Bus (and return)

Heritage Open Day: Visit Epiacum and enjoy a guided walk of the site.

For one-day only a free community bus will run from South Tynedale Railway - CA9 3JB - up to Fairhill, and on to Epiacum, before returning. Visit Epiacum to join one of our two guided walks which will explore the heritage of the site along ancient route ways. The tour will include a visit to our 17th century bastle house from the border reiver period, then travel back in time to the Roman period and the remarkable defensive ditches of Epiacum Roman Fort.

Tours will start from The Nook Farm Shop and Cafe (CA9 3BG) at 11pm and 2pm and last about 90 minutes. The ground is sometimes steep and uneven so stout shoes are recommended.
