Wild Venison Week

Join us for a highly nutritious celebration of field-to fork flavour during our very own Wild Venison Week, featuring sustainably managed wild venison from the Holker Estate—one of Cumbria Life Magazine’s traditional Cumbrian “Foodie Fifteen” local produce star items.

What’s On during the week:

Tastings & expert advice

Holker Estate is the home of Wild Lake District Venison so head to the Courtyard Cafe on Thursday 25th and Saturday 27th September, 11:30 to 2pm to meet our venison experts for tastings, practical cooking tips, and pairing suggestions to make the most of this versatile and flavoursome local meat.

Wild Venison Specials Menu

Available from Wednesday through to Sunday in the Courtyard Café—our chefs will be showcasing a specials menu of creatively curated dishes that highlight the full flavour spectrum of wild Lake District venison – from standout starters to comforting autumnal mains.

Take Holker Venison home

Indulge in an extended selection of wild Holker Estate venison, including joints, cuts, and speciality products. For the very first time, discover our unique Royal Holker Haggis, a rich traditional recipe with a venison twist made by award-winning haggis maker Dales of Kirkby Lonsdale – winner of the Golden Haggis Award at the Oban Winter Festival 2 years running.

Why You Should Visit

Whether you’re a long-time venison aficionado or curious to try it for the first time—Wild Venison Week is your invitation to taste something exceptional, learn from experts, and take home a truly special local product.
