A candlelit performance of Benjamin Britten's short, atmospheric Christmas Cantata A Ceremony of Carols, lasting just under 30 minutes. Sung by the Chingford Singers with Rachel Bartels, harp.
Although this is not actually a church service, it does evoke a spiritual preparation through music for the season of Advent and Christmas, beginning and ending with the choir processing from a distance outside whilst chanting plainsong. The choir then sings a number of short, linked settings of texts with a central virtuoso harp solo, before once again processing off into the distance chanting plainsong.
