Chester care home invites community to friendship café

A care home in Cheshire is seeking to help people build new friendships with a creative twist.

On Thursday 16th October from 2pm-4pm, Care UK’s Deewater Grange on Chester Road, will welcome the local community to its creative friendship café.

People are encouraged to come along and enjoy warm drinks and homemade cakes, while getting stuck into arts and crafts.

The café is open to anyone who wishes to make new friends and chat with residents, the care home team and other community members in a relaxed environment. It is hoped the home will eventually become a fully established community hub for the local area.

Donna Howard, Home Manager at Deewater Grange, said: “We strive to have a positive impact on our community here and believe that no one should feel alone.

“Building support systems is so important, and we’re committed to helping local people discover the expertise and creativity available at our friendship café - a welcoming space where everyone can relax, get involved with arts and crafts, and enjoy a bit of company.

“We’re really looking forward to meeting some new faces over a cup of tea and a slice of cake.”

Deewater Grange is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care. The home has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, and incorporates plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies, including its own café, bar, cinema, and a hair and beauty salon. The layout of the building is configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
