The Ballad of Wallis Island, film screening

Welsh scenery stars along with Tom Basden, Carey Mulligan and Tim Key in this highly acclaimed feel good, gentle, classy British comedy drama about love and music, nostalgia, hope and letting go..
Fictional folk duo, McGwyer and Mortimer (Herb and Nell played by Tom Basden and Carey Mulligan) were big back in the day and once the 'it' couple on the folk music scene – romantically and musically, but long since split up. One of their superfans, Charles (poet-comedian Tim Key) an eccentric millionaire lottery winner living alone on a remote island, dreams of getting his favourite musicians back together. The fantasy becomes reality when he manages to lure each to play an intimate show at his home on Wallis Island. Old tensions resurface as Charles tries desperately to salvage his dream gig.
Written by the film's stars Basden and Key, Basden also wrote the music. As well as Carey Mulligan the other star is the rugged Pembrokeshire coastline standing in for fictional Wallis Island.
With rave reviews, the film has won huge acclaim, romcom giant Richard Curtis called it “one of the great British films of all time”.
