Join us on Saturday 11th April 2026 for a one-day Rock Climbing Introduction Course in North Yorkshire, based at Rock Side Bungalow, Town End, Carnforth (LA6 3JQ).
Led by experienced instructor Nick Rowe, this course is designed for complete beginners or those with limited indoor climbing experience who want to safely move onto real rock.
This certified Mountain Training Rock Skills Introduction course provides structured teaching to help you learn the core skills needed to climb outdoors. No previous experience is required, and the session is delivered in a supportive, hands-on environment.
Throughout the day you will learn how to put on a harness correctly, tie in securely, belay safely, move confidently on rock and practise abseiling. You will also be introduced to climbing guidebooks, environmental ethics, crag etiquette and risk management – all essential for becoming an independent outdoor climber.
Nick will guide you step-by-step, offering personalised feedback and plenty of practice time. You will also have the opportunity to meet other new climbers and develop your skills together in a relaxed, friendly setting.
This course is ideal for anyone who wants to experience outdoor climbing for the first time, learn safe systems, and gain confidence in a professional learning environment.
