A care home in Sarisbury Green is embracing the yuletide season by opening its doors for a special reminiscence event.
Ancasta Grove, on Barnes Lane, is inviting people to revisit traditions from Christmas past by joining residents and team members for door-to-door carol singing on Saturday 13th December from 3.30pm–4:30pm.
The event is part of Care UK’s ‘Step into Christmas’ initiative, which aims to rekindle festive customs that residents remember from their childhood by reliving them and sharing them with the community.
On the day, locals can join in on bringing cheer to each resident’s room by singing their favourite Christmas carols.
There will also be a host of seasonal snacks and refreshments, including mince pies and mulled wine, specially prepared by the home’s head chef, Tibu Suli.
Resident, Marilyn said: “I am so excited for the carol singing. I don’t get out much these days, so having the music come to my room means a lot.”
Audrey Chiduku, Home Manager at Ancasta Grove, said: “Christmas is such a special time of year and this event allows us to honour memories from residents’ childhoods, bringing them to life once again.
“Carol singing is also a wonderful opportunity to unite the community, celebrate the season and pass on traditions that may otherwise be forgotten.
“We’d like to encourage locals to join us to celebrate the festive season and bring the memories of Christmas past to Sarisbury Green.”
